Vintage Virginia postcard of a natural Land Bridge of Rockbridge County near the Blue Ridge Mountains. An illustration of land bridge of Cedar Creek in VA.
The front of the card reads: "120 Natural Land Bridge In Winter, Virginia"
The back of the card reads: "The Natural Bridge of Virginia is located in Rockbridge County a few miles to the west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Length of the bridge 90 feet; width averages 100 feet; height 215 feet; 40 feet think. Granted from George III on July 5th, 1774 to Thomas Jefferson, 157 acres, which included the bridge on Cedar Creek which flows under it."
This card is unused, in terms of postage, but the back has discoloration, see below condition for below. It was published by Marken & Bielfeld, Inc., Frederick, MD., on linen paper, dating it to at the latest the mid 1940s.
Condition: Unused, although someone apparently had glued the postcard into an album perhaps, because there is a a smeared discoloration across the edges only of the back of the card. See photo #2 above. The front of the card is in near mint condition, the color is still vibrant and the there are no tears or creases. There is however a speck of a stain in two spots on the white border. Also, the card is bordered in white on three side, which does seem a little odd. At first I thought the bottom was trimmed off, but looking at how the print is aligned on the back of the card, it doesn't seem to be.
The card is 5.5" x 3.5" or 14 cm x 8.9 cm
