Vintage baby sweater, white hand knit. Sweater with a nautical sailboat motif. Baby boy or baby girl sweater. White nautical style, most likely hand knit, baby cardigan sweater, with two small white sailboat appliques sewn onto the chest. Soft and clean.

This infant sweater not a pure white, but not a cream.
I am not sure what the material of the yarn is. When wet, it smells like cashmere or wool, it is very soft and I am almost positive because of the feel and the nature of the "fuzzing", it is not acrylic.
It is a cardigan with a ribbed stitch "stripe" tone on tone knit pattern across the torso, and ribbed collars and waist band.
The stitching around the neckline is especially nice.
The two tiny appliques are pieces of white felt that have been cut into the shape of sailboats, the masts are stitched on.
The 5 buttons are a matching white plastic.
I am guessing that this sweater was hand knit, and if so, stitching is impeccable. There may however have been a sewn in tag at one point, because there is a line of thread stitched at the back top inside below the collar. It is very difficult to tell and it doesn't seem like a was removed, because there is no evidence in the knit stitches and no damage.
Condition:
Very good. There are no stains, discoloration or damage. There is not much pilling, but the edges are a little "fuzzy" and there are a few threads poking out around the buttons and edges. It seems to have been gently worn. The sweater has been hand washed in cold water and air dried. The felt sailboats are intact and may be slightly off-white because of age, although it is uncertain, they may have always been a different shade of white that the yarn used.
