Vintage empire waist dress, size large, Scandinavian influenced, black with a multicolor plaid skirt, embroidered daisy, butterfly and duck ribbon trim on the button front top with square neckline.
The neckline, sides along buttons, waistband and cuffs are lined with an embroidered ribbon fabric. The black ribbon fabric motif contains yellows ducklings, blue daisies, red butterflies and a red border.
The top of the shirt has darts the the bust. The sleeves have buttoned cuffs.
The long skirt of the dress us somewhat full and gathered at the waist (a typical empire dress) and it coordinates with the trim. The black background large plaid is a palette of red, purple, yellow, orange and blue.

Fabric: not specified, but the care tag reads "Machine Washable, Warm, Gentle Cycle, Tumble Dry". The fabric is most likely a cotton/polyester blend. It has a cotton feel.
Size: under the care tag someone wrote is pen "Size 11/12", which seems somewhat consistent with modern day sizing for the measurements below.
