Antique banded agate brooch. An rare Edwardian era, ornate, floral pin with an oblong, navette cabochon with amber red stripes set in silver plated brass flanked by a symmetrical feather or leaf design crest, almost art nouveau, pin.
Approximate size:
1 7/8” wide x 1 ½” tall x 3/8” deep including pin back
No maker’s marks. The style and the banded agate (like Scottish) make the piece likely crafted prior to 1920s.
Condition:
Very good, vintage, used condition. The metal (presumed brass, because of the thin nature, but likely silver toned because it may be plated) has a heavy patina and some green oxidized areas, on the front, but more so on the underside upper back. No special attempt has been made to clean or polish the metal. The stone is in very good condition, with just the slightest light surface scratch. The pin back in in good working condition.
