Vintage spice jars with blue windmill print on white pottery. Dutch Delft style, but made in Germany around the 1920s. Set of 3 small canisters, with lids, each labeled in print script for cloves, pepper and nutmeg.
Approximate size of each:
4 ¾” tall including lid and handle
2 ¾” wide at widest point (lid)
2 ½” deep at widest point (lid)
Approximate interior dimensions:
3 ¼” deep x 2 ¼” x 1 ¾”
Marked each:
“Made in Germany
For C. B. No. 13”
Condition:
Fair to very good, vintage, used condition, with varying degrees of wear and some damage. The lids are interchangeable, but one has a large, discolored, chip, at one corner, as well as, a fair amount of crazing a discoloration throughout. Another has a much smaller chip at the underside corner. The nutmeg jar has a 2 ½” inch long crack at the front that extends down from the rim, and is through the wall of the jar. There is a also a surface chip in the glaze at a back corner. The cloves jar has a significant amount of yellow discoloration and crazing throughout, it has black specks on the inside that have proven difficult to remove and still smells strongly of cloves! The pepper jar is by far in the best condition, with some wear, light crazing, but no chips or cracks. The wear and flaws have been taken into great consideration when pricing this, shabby, set of three.
