Antique white basketweave salad plates. Octagonal, off white 1910s J.B. & W Germany set of 5 dessert plates, Majolica style raised design rare German dinnerware.
These are delicate and rare, the pattern is a texture, somewhat like a basketweave, but within each diamond criss cross is a cross of flower shape.
Each plate measures 7 1/4" in diameter and is 5/8" tall (approximately)
Each is marked in green:
"J.B. & W
NY
Germany"
Imprinted in the clay:
"3039L"
The mark indicates these plates were imported through NY by J.B. & W from Germany, as early as 1907 and probably not much later than the early 1920s, due to the style of the plate.
Condition:
Good vintage, considering their age, with some wear and discoloration. Three of the plates have small chips on the rim, there is also some imperfections in the glaze and very light surface scratches. There are flaws in production in the form of specks in the glaze on some, as well. Please see the photos above.
