An antique carnelian pendant for a necklace. A Victorian semi transulcent thinly cut semi precious gemstone, likely carnelain of the quartz family, cut in an oval cabochon. It is set in a scalloped, or "pie crust" thin silver oval setting that is quite tarnished and has a loop for hanging, horizontally. This stone is most likely carnelian. It has a red agate look, with striations, but is cloudy and semi translucent.
Approximate size of pendant:
1 1/4" x 1" (without attached hanging loop)
Maker unknown.
Condition:
Very good, vintage, pre-owned condition for it's age. There is little to no scratches of the polished surface of the stone. The setting is somewhat crude and the silver is very tarnished.
