Antique Santa ornament. A rare glass Victorian Christmas tree trim Santa Claus in chimney ornament, likely made in Germany, around the turn of the century, circa late 1800s - 1920s at latest. A beautiful and collectible mercury glass ornament in shabby, very distressed, condition.
No maker's marks, because the oxidized cap is clearly not the original.
It is very much reminiscent of similar made in Germany at this time frame.
Condition:
Good, but very distressed, antique used condition. As mentioned, it does not have the original cap, and the one present is larger, but does hold onto the ornament and is functional. There is chipping to the glass at the neck near the cap, a common issue. The color and finish is very worn away throughout, making areas clear. This adds to the odl world charm.
