Vintage raku vase, small with an iridescent, metallic, textured surface. The charcoal and jewel toned finish on this bulbous vessel in handmade pottery is product of the traditional technique of Japanese raku-firing. this 6 1/2" tall vave, with a 5" diameter and a narrow rim, is likely made by an American potter, maker and era not known.
Approximate size:
6 1/2” tall
1 1/2” opening
2 1/8” rim
Approx 5” diameter at widest
2 1/4” at base
Insigned, no marks, except for the spiral which is common of raku-style American pieces.
Condition:
Excellent, vintage, pre-owned condition. I can discern no damage, possibly some surface wear from age, but this would be difficult to determine because of the rustic, inconsistent, nature of finish.
