Antique milk glass ships. Rare C.L. Flaccus lidded mustard dish. White opaque glass battleships commemorating the Spanish American War. Late 1800s Pennsylvania made moulded glass, with some flaws.
Multiple style of molded glass ships were patented to be made by the C.L. Flaccus company in final years of the 1800s, and they contained mustard made by the Flaccus condiment company. This particular ship is the only of the 4 styles that was not marked with the ship's name and is a replica of the Indiana-class pre-dreadnought warship of the Spanish American War.
Approximate size of each with lid:
6 ¼” x 3 ½” x 4” tall
Interior dimensions:
5 ¼” 2 ¾” 2 ½” deep
No maker’s marks.
Condition:
Good, vintage, used condition with some flaws and breakage. There is a rear cannon barrel missing on one lid. There is also sliver chipped away at the edge of this lid, which is slightly visible when lid is lifted, but really views as just a darker area within glass, more visible when held to the light. There is a similar, but much less visible sliver missing from the inner edge of the other lid. Both lids rims and interior rims of dishes feel rough to the touch in some areas more than others, from use (this is common to these pieces). There is a dark area in the same boat lid, that is a production flaw. Please see photos closely, particularly the close up photos, for details of the damage. This very rare set has been priced accordingly.
