An antique framed print by 19th century artist Émile Vernon of a beautiful Edwardian woman. A lithograph of an early 1900s oil painting portrait of a redhead. It measures 20"x 23" with the original antique wood and plaster frame, since repainted gold and quite chippy and distressed. This is a rare find, printed in Germany 1910s. This particular piece is difficult to find a print or image of, title unknown. The frame is in need of minor repair, but wonderfully distressed in as-is condition.
Approximate size with frame:
20” x 23 ½ x 1 ½” thick at frame
The print is marked on the bottom right corner:
“Printed In Germany”
The painting was completely likely sometimes after the turn of the century. The style of the frame suggests it was also from ago the 1910s. Whether the two have always been a pair, is unclear.
Good, as is, vintage condition, considering the age, but with a lot of wear, the majority being to the frame. The plaster is chipped away from over 1/3” of the frame, and particularly on the left and tops sides, exposing the wood beneath. It appears to have been painted gold at some point. The frame is coming apart some at the upper and lower right hand mitered corners. And at the bottom right, there is a tiny nail sticking out in front of the glass. This issue could be repaired, but I have chosen to leave it as is, as to leave decision to remove the backing paper and repair it to the buyer. There is also a long area of wood split away from the frame at the back left edge. The print itself likely shows some fading, but is still clear. There is a pink red stain at the lower left corner and some minor blemishes throughout. Please see all of the close up photos above to get a full sense of the flaws.
