Antique linen tea towel with a two headed serpent and monogram G.B. in an open crochet lace window. Blush linen napkin with an off white trim. A guest towel, in a peach hue with hemstitch details, circa early 1900s.
Rectangular shaped linen, with intricate and usual hand-crocheted detail oval "window" with a two headed snake entwined within a capital G and B.
The serpent and monogram GB is needle lace and the edging is tape lace.
Size:
20.5" x 14"
or
52.2 cm x 35.6 cm
Condition:
Very good vintage, used, condition considering the delicate nature and age. There are some faint stains (see photo #2 for one example) and there is damage to the edging on one side (see photo #4 above.) There are also a few "nubs" in the linen which are inherent to the textile. There is a fair amount of yellowing on the off white lace areas, due to age. I have made no special attempt to remove this or the staining. The photos have been darkened a bit to make the staining more visible than when viewing in person.
