Vintage earrings, abalone carved face earrings, silver. Tear drop shape abalone shell earrings, bordered in sterling filigree, screw back earrings, midcentury or earlier.
Striated, dark gem toned abalone cut in a large teardrop drop and carved with what looks like somewhat abstracted faces, almost tiki-like. The abalone is in a setting of flat backed silver with a filigree 0r lace like scroll and bead border. The teardrop shape medallions dangle from one silver bead shape front of the screw back hardware.
Marked: On the flat part of the screw back, both earrings are marked what looks like "LCUAL_ _RD Sterling" (from what I can tell.)
Size:
1.5" x 5/8" approximately

3.8 cm x 1.7 cm
Depth including the stone and setting is approximately 3/16" or .5 cm
Condition:
Very good vintage condition, with one flaw. The sterling setting on one of the earrings is slightly bent near the top point (the left earring in photos above.) Otherwise, there is a some throughout on the silver, especially on the flat backs and very little wear on the abalone. The silver has been intentionally left unpolished as to leave that decision up to the buyer. I will gladly polish the piece at no extra fee upon request.
