Vintage linen napkins made in Portugal with needlepoint rose motif. Off white linen with crochet trim. Unused napkins by Lolcar Alto da Lixa, set of napkins,18, Portuguese made.
10 of the 18 have the small rosebud in burgundy and fuchsia embroidered in one corner, with beige crocheted grid pattern trim, that is deeper on that same corner. The other 8 are very similar, but have trim that is the same ecru color as the the linen and have a different flower needlepoint embroidery. A rose that us opened, lighter, bright pinks and fuchsia and more green leaves.
There are no tags on the napkins themselves.
The original label is attached to 6 of the beige trimmed napkins with the rosebud motif. The front of this paper card which binds the linens together with stitches reads:
Alto da Lixa"
They date from approximately the 1920s.
Size of each napkin including the trim:
13" x 13"
33 cm x 33 cm
Mint, unused, NOS vintage. These are amazing. They do have the original folded creases in them, and as mentioned above, are starched and very stiff. They surely will soften with use.
