Vintage Telephone Cover Midcentury Rotary Monogram Silver

Sorry, this item has sold.

A rare vintage phone cover by Gorham Silverplate. Silver with an deep patina, this rotary telephone handle cover is ornate and engraved with intial letters E V I.

This thin, lightweight, silver plated piece is molded to perfectly fit on the handset of a standard midcentury rotary telephone.

The bottom end of the cover has a cutout opening for the cord, around which is engraved "Gorham Silverplate, Y051, Pat. Pend."

The top of the handset is very ornate with art nouveau styler raised floral and scroll design. In the rectangular, central, framed crest area on the handle is a space for monogramming that have the letters "E V I" engraved into it.

Condition:
Very good vintage, with some scratching, the worst of which is across the engraved initials, see photo #3 above. As mentioned above, the piece s quite tarnished and has a deel patina, some areas darker than others and "drip like" tarnish marks on both sides of the handles. I have intentionally left this piece unpolished to leave that decision up to the buyer.
